High School Counselor, Catholic High School for Young Women

Description:  Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the school counselor promotes student success, provides preventive services, and responds to student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program which includes the academic, college and personal/social development for students in grades 9-12. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and counsel in the development of guidance and counseling programs under the leadership of the Director of Guidance.
  • Provide counseling as needed with students who may be experiencing academic or personal difficulties.
  • Educate students and parents about the college admission process to include college applications, admissions trends, college essays, interviews, and standardized testing.
  • Use the Naviance Program for college research, statistics, and transcript submission.
  • Write individual and personalized letters of recommendation for seniors.
  • Assist juniors and seniors in the college search and application process.
  • Assist in the coordination of parent meetings such as Financial Aid Night and other informational meetings related to college planning.
  • Coordinate and assist with standardized testing (PSAT and AP).
  • Conduct group counseling and class meetings.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of student records and follow departmental policies.
  • Work cooperatively with Administration to promote positive student behavior and academic success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in school counseling
  • Two or more years of experience in a high school counseling office
  • Professional certification
  • Knowledge of Naviance and Administrator’s Plus
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a timely fashion
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration
  • Experience in college counseling, formal presentation skills and computer skills

Head Varsity Dance Coach

The Catholic High School of Baltimore seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time Head Varsity Dance Coach for the 2017-2018 season, from late October until early March. Applicants must have flexible schedules to accommodate team practices and events.

Duties include:

  • Organizing and attending practices (4 days a week, 4-6pm) and performances
  • Team fundraising and trips

Qualifications:

  • Strong Performing Arts and Dance background experience required (high school, college and/or studio), including experience in hip-hop, jazz, modern dance, lyrical and pom.
  • Solid technique, choreography, the ability to teach the various types of dance, and knowledge of current dance trends and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate should understand the rules and regulations set by the UDA, NDA and other dance organizations.
  • Interested candidates must also support the overall mission of Catholic High, and work collaboratively with athletic director, athletes, parents, and school administration to build a successful program.
