Distinguished Alumnae Awards Guidelines

The four award categories are:

Mother Generosa McCafferty Distinguished Alumna Award
Lux Tua Luceat Service Award
Distinguished Recent Alumna Award
Franciscan Heritage Award

Mother Generosa McCafferty Distinguished Alumna Award

The Mother Generosa McCafferty Distinguished Alumna Award is presented annually to an outstanding alumna of Catholic High who demonstrates each of the Franciscan Core Values of Personhood in Community, Loving Service, Ongoing Conversion, Witness to Justice, Peace and Reconciliation, and Stewardship. The purpose of the award is to recognize the alumna for her individual achievements, contributions to her profession, service to her community, and loyalty to The Catholic High School of Baltimore.

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Have graduated from Catholic High 10+ years from nominating year
2. Promotes the Franciscan Values
3. Acknowledges the inherent value of every person and the unique potential of women
4. Is distinguished in her profession or life work, must have received some previous recognition, awards, honors, etc. and have a significant influence within her family, career, and society
5. Is active in her professional organizations
6. Participates in leadership roles both professionally and within the community, and demonstrates a commitment to community relations/philanthropy
7. Is a person of such integrity that Catholic High will take pride in her recognition
8. Demonstrates the importance of Catholic High education and loyalty to Catholic High either by involvement or philanthropic support


Lux Tua Luceat Service Award

The Lux Tua Luceat Service Award is presented annually to an outstanding alumna of Catholic High who demonstrates each of the Franciscan Core Values of Personhood in Community, Loving Service, Ongoing Conversion, Witness to Justice, Peace and Reconciliation, and Stewardship.  The purpose of this award is to acknowledge an alumna who has a history of service to others through significant leadership in public or community endeavors, including church as well as service and commitment to The Catholic High School of Baltimore. This alumna best exemplifies the mission and vision of Catholic High through the application of her education, initiative, and humanity to socially useful ends in the community, nation or world, and continues to Let Her Light Shine. 

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Have graduated from Catholic High (no age restriction)
2. Promotes the Franciscan Values
3. Acknowledges the inherent value of every person and the unique potential of women
4. Is actively participating in leadership roles within her community, and demonstrates a commitment to community relations/philanthropy
5. Is a person of such integrity that Catholic High will take pride in her recognition
6. Demonstrates the importance of Catholic High education and loyalty to Catholic High either by involvement or philanthropic support

Distinguished Recent Alumna Award

The Distinguished Recent Alumna Award is presented annually to an outstanding alumna of Catholic High who demonstrates each of the Franciscan Core Values of Personhood in Community, Loving Service, Ongoing Conversion, Witness to Justice, Peace and Reconciliation, and Stewardship.  The purpose of this award is to acknowledge a recent alumna who has attained exceptional accomplishment in her occupation and has performed distinguished service that brings honor to the recipient and Catholic High during the first 15 years following graduation.

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Have graduated from Catholic High 15 years or less from the nominating year and has received at least an undergraduate degree
2. Be distinguished in her chosen business, profession or life work, and must have received some previous recognition (publications, presentations, awards, honors, research, continued advancement academically and or professionally)
3. Have been active in her professional organizations
4. Is a person of such integrity that Catholic High will take pride in her recognition
5. Demonstrates the importance of Catholic High education and loyalty to Catholic High either by involvement or philanthropic support

Franciscan Heritage Award

The Franciscan Heritage Award is presented annually to an outstanding alumna of Catholic High who demonstrates each of the Franciscan Core Values of Personhood in Community, Loving Service, Ongoing Conversion, Witness to Justice, Peace and Reconciliation, and Stewardship.  The purpose of the award is to recognize the alumna for joyfully serving  the poor, leading initiatives for social justice, empowering others to reverence creation, and giving witness to the Franciscan spirit in the world.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Has graduated from Catholic High (no age restriction)
2. Is a person of deep faith and prayerfulness
3. Reflects the joy and humility of the Franciscan Spirit
4. Is dedicated to co-creating a more just world
5. Is a person of such integrity that TCHS will take pride in her recognition
