The Catholic High School of Baltimore is an independent college-preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Since 1939 young women have benefited from the education they received at Catholic High.

How to Apply

We are so excited that you're interested in Catholic High! We accept students who are excited to live out our Franciscan mission of academic excellence, responsible leadership, and Christian community service. Our diverse school community affords our students exposure and understanding of cultural uniqueness.

We have provided you with a few detailed steps to make the high school application process easier for you and your family. Catholic High can't wait to review your application!

  1. Attend a Shadow Day – We welcome all 8th grade and high school transfer students on most school days from September through early December. Applicants are required to attend a Shadow Day to be considered for acceptance.

  1. RSVP for Open House – Catholic High invites you to Open House on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tour our beautiful campus, historic building, and speak with faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumnae. Learn how a Catholic High education transforms young women into responsible, reverent, empowered leaders.

  2. Apply Online – Students must apply online for admission to the school. For best consideration of admission, applications should be submitted by December 20, 2024. Please note that there is a $50 non-refundable application fee.

  3. Complete Additional Forms – Families need to submit a Records Release Form and the Archdiocese of Baltimore Referral Form directly to Catholic High. Please note: If a student attends an Archdiocese of Baltimore elementary/middle school, these forms are provided for you. Public School families can access these forms here.

  4. Tuition Assistance Application (Optional) – Catholic High offers tuition assistance, which is need-based and must be applied for each year through FACTS. Families may apply beginning November 1, 2024 by visiting factstuitionaid.com. The deadline to apply for financial aid is December 20, 2024. 

  5. Complete Specialty Program Applications (Optional)
  1. Take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) – This test is a required component of your admission packet. Public school students can take the HSPT at Catholic High on Saturday, December 7, 2024 or another Catholic High School offering it.  Archdiocese of Baltimore private school students will take the HSPT at their grade school on December 4, 2024.

  2. Consider our Scholarships – The Catholic High School of Baltimore offers a number of academic scholarships to qualified students entering the ninth grade. Scholarships are renewed annually, as long as the scholar maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Catholic High also offers scholarships for our Visual and Performing Arts Program in Vocal Music, Theatre, Instrumental Music, Visual Art, and Dance. A $2,000 scholarship is awarded to two incoming  freshman in each concentration. Scholarship auditions for VPA will take place in January. Students who qualify for an Academic Scholarship will also be contacted in January for an additional interview. 

  3. Decision Letters & Emails – It’s the day you have been waiting for – Decision Day! All students who have a completed a Catholic High application will receive a decision letter. Letters are mailed on February 19, 2025  and emails are sent on February 20, 2025.

Tuition & Fees

Catholic High’s Tuition Guarantee

The Catholic High School of Baltimore is the ONLY school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore to offer families a Tuition Guarantee. Families can budget for their daughter's high school tuition cost, knowing there will not be an increase in tuition through senior year. This does not include annual fees, which are subject to change.

Class of 2027 - $16,400
Class of 2026 - $15,600
Class of 2025 - $15,300

Additional Fees & Grants

Fees for the 2024-2025 School Year: $1,100
Please reference the current school year's Student/Parent Device Agreement for additional costs associated with school-issued device accidental damages.

Re-Registration Fee: $175

Senior Fee: $350
Includes retreat, transportation, Baccalaureate, and graduation expenses.

Archangel Fee: Extra $1,500 per year (Grades 9, 10)

Payment Plans

Payment-in-Full Discount
Payments-in-full received by June 1 will receive a 3% discount. Credit card payers or recipients of any other discounts, aid, grants, or scholarships will not be eligible for this discount.

Tuition Refund Plan
Tuition Refund Plan available at 1.7% of tuition and all fees. Mandatory semi-annual and monthly payment plans. Optional, but encouraged for families who make full payments.

Scholarships

Academic Scholarships

The Catholic High School of Baltimore offers a number of Academic Scholarships to qualified students entering the ninth grade. Students who qualify for an academic scholarship will be contacted in January for an interview. Scholarships are renewed annually, as long as the scholar maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Mother Generosa Scholarship (Full tuition per year)
St. John Neumann Scholarship ($7,500 per year)
President's Scholarship ($4,500 per year)
Principal's Scholarship ($3,000 per year)
Mother Mary Francis Bachmann Scholarship ($2,500 per year)
Mission Award ($1,000 per year)
Legacy Grant ($1,500 per year) - This award is for all daughters and granddaughters of Catholic High alumnae.
Second Daughter Grant: ($1,500) - Per additional child 

Visual & Performing Arts Scholarships

There are also scholarships for the Arts (Visual Art, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Theater), and for Public Speaking. Students applying for a scholarship in Visual Art, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music and Theater must be an applicant to the McCafferty Visual and Performing Arts Program. To apply for any one of these, click here to complete the required program application and check "Yes" for the statement, "I am interested in a Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship" in order to receive information about the scholarship applications. There are interviews and auditions for each of these, and a representative from the Office of Enrollment will contact each applicant to schedule her interview time in mid January.

Duns Scotus Forensics Team Scholarship 

Students applying to Catholic High may Interview for a Duns Scotus Forensics Team Scholarship. The Forensics Team competes in the Baltimore Catholic Forensics League each season. Scholarship recipients are awarded a $2,000 scholarship to be applied each year.
