Bailey Mullen ’19 found her passion for running on Catholic High’s Indoor and Outdoor Track teams. After graduating from Catholic High, she headed to McDaniel College where she would begin her college career running Cross Country and Track & Field for the Green Terror. She is currently having a standout Senior year!

She began her Senior Cross Country season in September with a first place finish at the Charger Invite hosted by Lancaster Bible College completing the 6k course with a personal best time of 24:45.40. This was the fastest time by a Green Terror athlete on the Lancaster course.

At the Hornet Harrier Invitational at Shenandoah University, Mullen placed first in the 5k with a time of 19:30.9. Her time landed her second place on McDaniel’s top 10 performers list for a Shenandoah course. Mullen continued her great strides at the 2022 Centennial Conference Championship where she set a program record earning 26th place with a time of 23:57.60.

She continued setting records at the NCAA Regionals earning the second-best time in program history with a 23:10.00 finish. Mullen took 37th place overall and earned 13th best in McDaniel Cross Country history.

After her record-setting Cross Country season ended, she began the Indoor Track season with hopes to set more personal and program records for the Green Terror. Mullen and her team traveled to Bucknell University in December to compete in the Bison Opener for their 2022-2023 season debut. During the meet, Mullen jumped to ninth all-time for the program in the 3000m run with a time of 11:10.02 taking eighth place at the meet. She also became tenth all-time for the 1 mile running a 5:34.38 which qualified her for Championships later in the season.

Mullen continued to climb the McDaniel records sheet at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational and Coach I Invitational. She took first place in the 800m with a time of 2:33.48. At Coach I, Mullen took two second place finishes in the mile and 3000m. Mullen recorded a 5:34.27 mile, landing her tenth in program history, while also recording an 11:05.79 3k, landing her eighth in program history.

In late January, Mullen and her team traveled to Franklin & Marshall for the Mini Dip Invitational.  There, Mullen made her 5000m debut and placed second overall with a time of 19:11.77 landing her sixth in Green Terror history. She also led the team at the Richard Blake Invitational in Virginia Beach. During the meet, she finished second overall with a time of 11:04.08 which made her seventh best in the program. Mullen also set a personal record in the mile recording a 5:32.48.

Mullen bettered her seventh rank in program history at the Blue & White Invitational taking second place in the 3000m running a 10:54.65. She also placed fourth in the 1000m running a 3:15.48 earning seventh all-time in program history.

At the latest Larry Sharpe memorial Invitational, Mullen became fifth all-time in program history in the 1000m with a 3:13.10 time. In the mile, she took second overall with a time of 5:29.64 earning ninth all-time in McDaniel history. In addition to her program records, she also set personal records in both events.

We are extremely proud of her for letting her light shine on the cross country course and on the track. Not only is Mullen a standout athlete, she also excels in the classroom. She recently earned Dean’s List for McDaniel College with the highest honors. She plans to graduate from McDaniel with a degree in English and Theatre Arts.
